[A] crushing disappointment.. The Host raises many questions, among them, how has it taken this long for Diane Kruger to play an alien?. Stitch ... combines all the worst, and most irresistible, qualities of Bugs Bunny, the Road Runner and Speedy Gonzales while taking their pranks to new plateaus of destruction.. A refreshingly low-tech cartoon.. Dopey, derivative and dull, "The Host" is a brazen combination of unoriginal science-fiction themes, young-adult pandering and bottom-line calculation....
